I Prefer A World With Communist China In It and Thriving
Last night’s attack on Venezuela would have been coordinated at least in part by SOUTHCOM, one of 11 U.S. military commands around the world and space, intended to give the ruling class what the U.S. calls “full spectrum dominance.” The Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) has been calling for the dismantling of not only SOUTHCOM but AFRICOM, for about a decade.
Every year these military commands do these things called “posture statements” where they give their view of the situation in “their” region to the House and Senate. Both parties in the House and Senate basically rah rah these statements with no resistance or critcal examination, demonstrating that the capital class that sits behind these two parties is essentially united in imperialism.
A big part of the SOUTHCOM posture statement of 2025, and years past, was the emphasis on China. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, has named China as an existential threat to the U.S. and its ultimate enemy. Importantly, China is Venezuela’s leading trade partner for its oil and isolating and defeating China is quite likely the ultimate objective in what this government is doing in Latin America and Africa. In addition to opposing imperialism because its wrong, and the obvious White Supremacy in this government’s support of the Monroe Doctrine or seeing Latin America and the Caribbean as the U.S. backyard, from where I’m sitting, Africa is in a better position in a world with China and its Belt and Road Initiative than one with the U.S. ruling class as the only power. Prayerfully, though try as it might to send back the hands of time, those days are behind us.
